SPECIAL PRAYERS FOR OUR CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES
As we are approaching the day of confirmation for our candidates, I strongly suggest that we do extra prayers and exercises so that they may open up to the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Here are a few suggestions: Participation in the Holy Hour of Friday evening (7.30pm except on the first Friday: 6.15pm) or Sunday morning (9.15am) and offer this time of adoration to their intention.
Make an effort to participate in the Wednesday evening mass (7.30pm). Fast completely for 24hrs a week, for example on Friday’s (from Thursday evening 8.30pm to Friday evening 8.30pm).
Or just, if you really do not have much time, take at least fifteen minutes of quiet time at home every day to pray for them.
WE, AS PARENTS, SPONSORS, CATECHISTS, FELLOW YOUTHS AND COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR YOUTHS BY LIVING A GOOD EXEMPLARY LIFE, BY GIVING THEM THE RIGHT TESTIMONY AND BY PRAYING FOR THEM.
S H A R E T H E L O A D
As it was announced last week, all the parishes of the Archdiocese have been requested to pull up their sleeves to give a substantial contribution to the building up of a much needed new Chancery. At St. Thomas, we have been asked to raise nearly R350,000 over two years. Influential people, or those having access to the corporate world are kindly asked to take contact with Fr or any PPC member.
REMEMBRANCE PLAQUES
The first plaques were inaugurated last Sunday in a small service led by Father Philippe. If you would like to remember your loved ones in that way, please fill up a form, obtainable from the office or from the Parish website. We can only engrave the plaques by bunches of at least 20 plaques to keep the low price.
“Couldn’t you stay awake for one hour? Keep watch and pray , all of you, so that you may not slip into temptation. The spirit indeed is eager but human nature is weak.” (Mark 14:37b-38)
Please do remember the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday at 7.30pm, except for the first Friday, or on Sunday at 9.15am.
